Prakash Trading Company (PTC) was established by Mr. Maganlal Karani, an Indian entrepreneur who began his journey in the United Arab Emirates, in his early twenties to seek business opportunities beyond the limit of his homeland, India. With an entrepreneurial spirit to shape his own path without the support of his family, he experienced numerous challenges and setbacks along the way. But his strong determination and unwavering dedication led him to start a small trading family business called “Prakash Trading Co” – Prakash meaning ‘light’ in Hindi.

Established in the early 1960s, Prakash Trading Company commenced its operations in the supply and distribution of low voltage electrical and lighting solutions. Its humble beginnings trace back to a single retail outlet situated in Al Sabkha, Deira – then a trading hub in Dubai, where merchants converged to conduct business transactions. Notably, he holds the distinction of being one of the first companies to obtain a commercial license for trading from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

Under his leadership, the group has expanded into a large business conglomerate across the GCC through strategic expansion and business acquisitions. Today, Prakash Trading Co LLC remains a family business managed by the lineage of Mr. Maganlal Karani, who continue to follow his vision and values. Over the years, we have grown and developed an expertise across a vast range of products and industry segments. Today our success is driven by years of knowledge along with tried and tested initiatives developed and passed on from one generation to the next, through the 2 generations of Karani family and workforce.
